Subject: Trevor Marshall Slotted Waveguide Questions: Dimensions?
Good afternoon group,
I've been reading a lot, trying to determine the best configuration for a
community/area WLAN and feel the Trevor Marshall designed 32 slot waveguide will play
a large role, since the omni-directional nature of the design seems to make it ideal
to connect to a meshap box.
My questions about this design are:
A) ~Primary Concern~ I cannot locate certain critical measurements in the 32slot
waveguide design, and I am ready (have 12mm bits, files, and a machine shop ready
lined up) to go as soon as I determine these dimensions and can scribe/score the
aluminum stock.
1) Is the centerline of the N-Connector 40.8mm from the outside of the aluminum
tubing or from the inside of the tubing?
2) Is the centerline of the N-Connector also the outside line of the first slot?
3) Is the inside of the first slot also the inside of the next (alternating)
slot? Do all the slots share the same centerline?
4) Some of the other dimensions from the lower end of the waveguide also raise
questions about the measuring conventions used... like the vertical distance of the
N-connector from the bottom of the air column? And according to the drawing... the
overall measurement (length) of the air column *appears* to use the outside dimension
measurement from the top and the inside dimension measurement at the bottom... am I
seeing these correctly?
B) ~Next Concern~ What do the "wings" refer to?. (two sets of "wings (one set at
each slot surface) are required to get equal radiation of energy over a full 360
degrees.)
Maybe it's just my vision/interpretation of the drawing, but I am not clear on these
and do not want to ruin the tubing already bought and waste the time of the machine
shop until I know for sure.
Please let me know if there are questions of mine which are not clear... I would be
grateful for any help or direction.
Thank you and best regards,
Clinton Meyer
