Hi, In the telecomm industry the word "redundant" means multiple setups backing each other up to maintain uninterrupted service to the end user. If you truly wish to be redundant, then you can't set up two separate AP's from the same coaxial....because if the broadband service itself goes down, then everything attached to it goes down also. Hence, there would be no redundancy what so ever. However, if your goal is to have a secondary network, then I believe what has been mentioned by the other gentlemen to be your answer. You'll have two separate networks independent of each other. Since they would be separate there would be no redundancy. take care, -chris

I have broadband service that assigns a static address for me. I am currently using a wireless router AP with the static address and the router's DCHP feature to provide service to the wireless receivers on my home network. Can I tap off (splice) the signal from the broadband modem to another wireless router AP that will be using a different hardware address, wireless channel, and ssid than the existing wireless AP? I wish to have a redundant, second network that works off my single, existiing broadband service.
