I like the idea of the display filter text box being allowed to be dynamically
sized.  A user could widen/narrow the width as needed.  I don't know if this is
possible though.

That said, I don't think that would solve the problem of requiring large mouse
movements for selecting the drop-down and applying a filter from the list as a
general solution.  If possible, I think the act of merely selecting the filter
text box causing the automatic drop-down of saved filters would solve the
problem, but there has been no feedback about this idea yet, so maybe that's
not desirable or possible?
