The NEWS file for 2.6.0 still contains the following out-of-date information:
This is the first release candidate for Wireshark 2.6.0.
Also, after installing Wireshark 2.6.0, you're given the option to read the
News, which, if you choose to do so, opens Notepad by default. Notepad does
not display the text properly because of certain characters such as
apostrophes, bullets, arrows, ellipsis, etc.
Here's are some samples of how Notepad displays these characters:

What’s New
• HTTP Request sequences are now supported.
• The selected packet number can now be shown in the Status Bar by
enabling Preferences → Appearance → Layout → Show selected packet
