I’ll admit that this is the first app that I’ve tried
to compile from source, so it is probably something
stupid. Below are the last lines in the terminal
window after I run “make.” The wireshark binary is
not made. It seems to me that it should end with
something other than “Leaving directory.” I’m using
Ubuntu Linux 6.06. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

make[3]: Leaving directory
`/home/xxx/wireshark/wireshark-0.99.2pre1/doc'
/usr/bin/perl ./make-version.pl .
Version configuration file version.conf not found.
Using defaults.
This is not a SVN build.
svnversion.h is up-to-date.
make[2]: Leaving directory
`/home/xxx/wireshark/wireshark-0.99.2pre1'
make[1]: Leaving directory
