Thanks.  That was it.  Once I installed the
libgtk2.0-dev, the "configure" says "yes" to Build
wireshark and the binary is there after the "make."

Ok.  Now for a big question.  Is there some way that a
person who doesn't have much experience doing it this
way should have known this?
