I'm weaning myself away from all Verisign products and although Thawte is
now owned by Verisign I thought it might be a first step for the
certificates.
After wasting 30 minutes going in circles with their hosed server I gave up
on Thawte (I could see the Verisign influence immediately ;-(.
Anyway, went to Equifax and got a certificate for $119 and everything went
so smooth I almost passed out (only took about 5 minutes).
It's not free but it's better than $250+ to Verisign.
