I am an officer in a financial service company. We have an HR services
provider who allows web access to individuals' accounts. They internally
design for Win NT/MSIE 5.x. When they allow end users to see their accounts,
the users are logging in from home, which is a very heterogeneous
environment, and includes new and ancient computers. Mac users were not
served at all, Netscape users couldn't see it, dialup users couldn't get
access... Older versions of MSIE even couldn't see it.
We put the service provider on notice to design for heterogeneous or we'd
fire them. Don't care if MSIE is 99% of corporate market; my wife as an
iMac.
They subsequently bought a bunch of macs and are redesigning.
