Hi List,

You may remember that I was having the problem of my WiTango server using 99% CPU power on my Windows 2000 server.

Although your suggestions were indeed helpful, I found the resolution on my own and would like to share it with you:

There is a trojan that attaches itself to the msjet40.dll (Microsoft Jet Engine). So, any Access or Excel datasource that is used in a WiTango application can keep all the threads busy to the database.

What happened was the trojan made the system think that all the threads were being used, so when the request came from the taf, WiTango couldn't connect to the database. WiTango would wait for the result from the database, thus using up CPU power. Multiply this by several hundred users, and WiTango takes up all the CPU power.

The solution is to install the security update, or Windows 2000 SP3.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
