Thx for all your suggestions. This is a mystery. Guess what? There was no password! what? Exactly what I said. What the h@## happened to the password? I will have to watch the logs very very carefully to see what exactly is going on. If someone is accessing the config.taf file or what? I am thrown for a loop here. Doesn't appear that any damage was done.
But several custom settings had changed: mail server, license, config password. Weird.
