PostgreSQL has an upper() function and it works just fine in a Witango custom column.
PostgreSQL has many built-in functions:
http://www.postgresql.org/idocs/index.php?functions.html
It is also extensible so you can create your own functions, data types and operators
in several supported languages: SQL, PL/PgSQL (like Oracle's PL/SQL), TCL, Perl, C,
etc.
MySQL CHAR and VARCHAR columns are case insensitive by default, but you can also
define those columns to be case sensitive.
I've been learning a lot about PostgreSQL lately and think it is great, especially if
you have a busy site that uses a complex database structure. Feel free to send me
questions about it.
