Ok, If you are reading the file in through a File Action, Then the file is a blob (binary large object) And you would have been better off setting the field resumeText to varbinary type
.DOC files contain not only the text but formatting and possibly graphics, there for it is not just text and thus the error If you save the file as .TXT then you should be able to read it in and insert into the TEXT field.
