This may be off topic as we all use various databases, but in light of
yesterday's w32.SQLExp.Worm virus that's purpose was to target SQL 7 and SQL
2000 servers, I wanted to check if there are security precautions that
Witango developers should be taking to protects our applications.

Various questions come to mind such as:

1) Does the ODBC driver provide any sort of protection? Should we be
locating particular ODBC related files in certain locations?

2) Does locating our databases on a separate server provide an additional
layer of protection? Or doesn't it matter?

3) What precautions can we take to protect our applications and databases?

I use R:Base for my applications, so I will post to that list as well, but I
wanted to see what our Witango community is doing in this area. I especially
think of the HIPPA posts and all the government privacy regulations.

Thanks
