The Website of the Milken Archive of American Jewish Music is an international 
undertaking to
record, preserve and distribute a vast cross-section, comprising hundreds of 
outstanding pieces of
American Jewish music from the past 350 years.
It consists of an introductory website, announcing and accepting online registrations 
for a Music
Conference to be held in the month of November 2003. Hence it is E-commerce enabled, 
tied to a
transaction processing gateway. This website is projected to act as a marketing tool.

Phase2: In Progress
This website is a subset of the above from where about 5,000 Compact Disc music titles 
are to be
sold online using a secure shopping cart, tied to a transaction processing gateway, 
order
management, database-driven content management.


My Role:
As the Web Applications Engineer I am responsible for the following:

Synopsis:
This was an effort to give the Milken Institute�s website a total face-lift. It 
involved migration
from Cold Fusion 5.0 to Tango based server and development of complex web applications 
on the
Tango web application server using SQL Server 7.0 as the database.
It supports an E-Commerce application, a Tango-based shopping-cart, order-management 
and premium
(pay-to-view) content. The website also serves as an Event Registration website for 
the two Annual
economic conferences that the Milken Institute hosts each year. All of this requires 
user-login,
and user-rights management at each level of the website.
The website also contains interactive elements like database driven flash animations, 
daily
quizzes, and Opinion polls etc.
All of the above applications and website content is controlled from a web-based 
Control panel
which gives the content managers the ability to manage content with only basic html 
knowledge.

the IS Department of the Milken Institute. It consists of database driven web pages

Cold Fusion server. Besides having an online registration form, online quiz, 
database-driven flash
objects, it consists of a secure login for accessing the conference materials like the

Furthermore, this website has rich multimedia content that consists of Audio and Video 
clips being
drawn from a database.

Synopsis:
The scope of operations covered by this project encompasses the entire gamut of 
business
activities that are performed by the Marketing Department of the organization in the 
process of
marketing its products/services. The procedural cycle begins with a marketing 
executive making a
sales call on a prospective customer. The first information collected about the 
prospect is
entered and sent for approval to the marketing manager in an auto-generated email. 
Subsequently
activities that are scheduled with the client are entered and automated reminder mails 
are sent to
concerned people for follow-up. Once a project is procured it is followed-up with a 
set of pre &
post sales activities that are recorded and a history of activities for each contact 
and project
is kept in the databases.
It also incorporates an interface with Domino.Doc for integrated document management.
This CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Application deals with the sales & project 
management
modules and the transactions involved in generating MIS (Marketing Information 
Systems) reports
and activity-reports. For this purpose Crystal Reports 8.0 has been utilized.

As a Systems Engineer I was responsible for the following:

Project Name:           Marketing Information System (MIS)
Project Duration:               December 1999 � May 2000

Synopsis:
The MIS is a Sales & Marketing information tracking system. It allows the head of the 
marketing
department to track all the events and correspondences with a client generated by a 
marketing
executive. The marketing head keeps a track of all the activity that the executives 
might have
with that customer. It also consists of an interface with �Fax for Domino� from where 
faxes can be
sent routing them from the Domino-based fax server. Similarly it keeps a record of all 
letters,
emails, telephone call notes, etc. sent to the customers.

Over a period of time, a consistent database of all activities with the customers is 
achieved and
a history of the customers is maintained which enables the company to understand 
customer
relationships in a better organized manner.
Furthermore, an archiving system was plugged-in to move and back-up database old and 
obsolete
records for historical purposes.

My Role:
As a Systems Engineer I was responsible for the following:

Project Name:           Purchase-order processing System
Project Duration:               April 1999 � September 1999

Synopsis:
A system that takes care of Purchase Order workflow starting from the point of raising 
a
purchase-indent to the final payment to the supplier. This system consists of two 
databases,
namely, Roles and Order. In the Order database there is one order form which serves as 
the
starting point for the application workflow. It contains all the information for order 
processing.
It has various sections such as General Information, Supplier, Quote, Order, Delivery, 
and Billing
& Payment. Visibility of the sections depends on the state of the order and the role 
of the person
logged into the application. Most of the sections have buttons to send mail to the 
appropriate
person and to change the state of the order. The roles database contains information 
about the
departmental heads, and their pre-defined roles in the order-processing procedure. 
This database
has ODBC connectivity to a MS-SQL Server Database.
This application was later web enabled using Domino R5.0

My Role:
As a Manager � Information Systems I was responsible for the following:

an automated
mailing system. This database took care of extension of task-deadlines, correspondence 
between
people in the communication chain, and helped the management to take decisions, and 
manage the
projects in an efficient manner.

This system was designed to organize the stock levels for the wide range of products

manufactured and sold out of its stocks.
There was a huge number of orders to be processed by the sales-offices and stocks had 
to be
recorded from the factory on a regular basis to minimize delays. This system was 
designed to keep
a track of the current stock level for each product in the warehouse and the orders 
in-line
against the stock-in-hand. The re-orders were made accordingly. Reports generated out 
of the
system were sent to the plant, sales-offices and the sales representatives.
