Thanks to Scott and Ben, I got the public server to relay the email through the firewall to our intranet server, which has SMTP installed.
And I even scrounged from the archives all the info I needed to get SSL set up for this site. :) It's up, it's running, everyone is happy. Thanks very much - y'all are tremendous.
