(I'd save a copy of the entire site before I started this process, just in case!!) (Preferably on a CD)

1] Create a new taf that uses the new password

2] Open this new taf with a text editor (with batch file change capabilities, like BBEdit, or some equivalent on Windows)

3] Open one of your previous tafs with the same editor. Copy the whole <Password>(whatever)</Password> line

4] Do a find and replace on the entire site, changing from the old <Password>(whateverold)</Password> to the new <Password>(whatevernew)</Password>

IMPORTANT. If you have more than one datasource, this becomes more complicated, but merely in that you also need to

a] include the <UserName>(whatever)</UserName> line as well in the find and replace (UNLESS you have different datasources with the same username, in which case... it can still be done, but takes even more care. You get the idea, though)

b] follow up with a search on <Password>(whateverold)</Password> to make sure you've caught all of them. If you haven't, you're looking at problems down the road.

We do this sort of thing all the time; works like a charm and much more efficiently than attempting changes via the Project mechanism. But you MUST be careful (thus the idea of keeping a copy).

I want to change he password for our DB Server.

What is the most efficient way to change the data source password for all of
the TAF's and TCF's in my site.

Thanks
