linux!!! For application serving, I'm very pleased with Redhat9, Witango5, Apache2, MySQL 3.23 on a new Dell box. Very cost-effective and robust. Much easier (in my opinion) to configure than MacOS. Redhat Network updates are regular and easy to install.
And for file serving, we have another Suse 6.4 box running SMB and Netatalk for windows and mac file and print services, plus CVS, web, etc. Uptime is only 102 days, but I can't remember why I rebooted it. >Hi List, > >we are getting a new server and i was wondering what people recomend for >windows OS's? > >we are kind of debating between win2000 pro, win2000 server and win2003 >server. > >i heard the win2000 stuff is getting phased out so security >updates/patches arent going to be available too much longer so i know >thats a consideration too. >________________________________________________________________________ >TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Go to http://www.witango.com/maillist.taf Bill Conlon To the Point 345 California Avenue Suite 2 Palo Alto, CA 94306 office: 650.327.2175 fax: 650.329.8335 mobile: 650.906.9929 e-mail: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] web: http://www.tothept.com ________________________________________________________________________ TO UNSUBSCRIBE: Go to http://www.witango.com/maillist.taf
