Use the following instead:

<@VAR NAME=about_list SCOPE=domain TYPE="text"
APREFIX="" ASUFFIX=""
RPREFIX="" RSUFFIX="" CSUFFIX="," CPREFIX="">

RSUFFIX marks the end of a row in an array
CSUFFIX marks the end of the value
