The database that my R:tango server uses is not normally accessed from R:base because it lives on the web server.
BUT.... when I open R:base up on that machine and update the database using update and load commands, Tango does not see the database changes until I restart the Tango service??????? I do have the Tango Cacheing on and also have STATICDB ON, but when I update the database through Tango, I see the DB changes right away. Purging the Tango Cache after the R:base update does not work either. When we get these errors, Oterro reports "General error during datasource operation" but doesnt elaborate like it normaly does by giving 2 error codes. We asked the R:List about it and Buddy Walker said that he had the same kind of errors when he forgot to set the datasource name for a DBMS in a taf, so that kind of says that maybe oterro isnt getting a datasource name from witango. Also in the witango events log whenever this happens, theres an entry saying "unable to open (null).." which if it means its unable to open a connection to the database or something, that looks alot like witango has "forgotten" the data source name. but yeah, it could still be oterro and we are beta testing 3.0 but since its beta, not sure if it's a good idea to run on the production server and since these errors happen only a small % of the time, its impossible to duplicate on the development machine so we dont know if oterro 3 clears it up or not. and we did try the datasource life 5 but that didnt help any ): ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Johansen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, November 20, 2003 9:58 AM Subject: RE: Witango-Talk: strange error > Hi, > > What version of Oterro are you using, at this time RBTI is doing beta > testing on version 3.0 > > It is sounding more and more that it is the ODBC engine that is having > trouble with the transaction load. > > > -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- > I am going behind bars for the MDA; come to > my site for details on how to bail me out > http://www.pcforge.com/MDALockup.htm > -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- > Ben Johansen - http://www.pcforge.com > Authorized Witango & MDaemon Reseller > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Alan Wolfe [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Thursday, November 20, 2003 9:49 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Witango-Talk: strange error > > For us its a little different, this error apears to us when we are > under > load, not after a period of inactivity. > > by desktop access do you mean having access to the R> prompt?
