Steve,

It would be a little easier to answer your question with a few notes of
your limitations or choices. An open ended question would get an equally
open ended "everything should be as powerful as possible" answer.

That said, the database must be MP and must be able to keep as much data
as possible in RAM. The speed of the CPUs isn't exactly an issue, but
they should be 2.0Ghz+. I prefer the XEONs for my databases. And the
hard drive subsystem should be fast and redundant. My recent build is a
4 drive RAID 1+0 using new SATA 10,000 RPM drives. Another server I have
is a fairly typical 5 drive RAID 5, also with 10,000 RPM drives.

I prefer to put the maximum amount of CPU horsepower behind Web and
Witango. Usually a gigabyte of RAM is enough, and the drives don't need
to be anything special because you can depend on the cache. Again, I
recommend an MP system so that IIS and Witango can process independent
requests on independent CPUs.

Subject: Witango-Talk: Server Question

I am in the process of separating my databases from the web and Witango
box.

Is it more important to have more processor speed for the web/Witango
box or
the DB box?

How about RAM?

And how about disk access?

I am guessing more CPU power and RAM in the web/Witango box.

Thanks for your advise.
