might not be what you want to hear but have you tried firebird?  Its a lean
mean browsing machine, first 3rd party browser ive seen that was actualy
everything youd expect out of a browser like IE is (except without the bugs
and bloat).

weve had a hell of a time w/ IE, especialy IE for macintosh since a whole
group of our clients use IE for mac.  Whats sad is when it fails it causes
data problems sometimes which reflects on us, its hard getting them to see
that the problem is the browser, and not us (even then they might think "why
cant we use this browser?").

As far as your IE install, i think its the registry settings that get
screwed up and that thing is such a huge mess its a black art fixing it
sometimes...

but heres a link to firebird, 6MB download, 16 MB after extracted.  Theres
no instalation needed, you just unzip to a directory and run the exe, like
how programs used to be before theyd spread a million DLLs all over your
system :P
