Hi,
do a
search on the id, if the @@resultset is 0 then add new record else notify
user.

Subject: Witango-Talk: Check if a record already exists in a database? If not, add it.
Hello Everyone,
I am using SQL2000 server and am not sure how to use Tango to find if a record already exists before proceeding to insert it.
I have an ID field that I want to check and if the ID matches one in the table then I don't want the record added and I want to notify the user, but if there is no match, then I want to go ahead and add the new record....
Any thoughts? What would be the most efficient way to do this?
