Primebase does not do that, they have a compiled native library (Primebase Virtual Machine, or PBVM) for each platform that the odbc driver uses to connect to Primebase DS. Primebase works excellent, especially with latest 4246 drivers. For the record, I have developed several systems using MS SQL, and Oracle, so I am making an intelligent comparison.

Here is some good info re: os x and odbc:

Who tunnels ODBC through JDBC?

I would always advice to use JDBC,

i had to much trouble in the past with odbc and mostly ODBC uses JDBC to communicate.

That means:

<Server:ODBC> -> <Server:JDBC> -> <Client:JDVC> -> <Client:ODBC>
Instead of going direct <JDBC> -> <JDBC>

I would appreciate anyone weighing in on whether or not ODBC on Mac OSX has
been stable long enough that the ODBC Drivers at the Primebase site are
sufficient?

Thanks
