Okay, I gave up on trying to get WiTango to support MySQL via ODBC
in either Dev Studio 5.0 or in Dev Studio 5.5.
I installed Oracle 9i Personal Server (the download is a gigabyte,
so this is not trivial) and converted the MySql "create" and "insert"
scripts for the Music tutorial to work correctly in Oracle.
And now, at last, I can continue with the Witango tutorial using
the Music database through Oracle and ODBC.
(SUGGESTION to Witango: include the create and insert scripts both
in MySql and in Oracle format. The conversion from MySql to Oracle
format is NOT trivial: there are a lot of syntax differences).
Again I ask, has ANYONE been able to get the MySql version of the
Music database to work under Windows XP with Service pack 2 in either
Developer Studio 5.0 or 5.5? For that matter, has anyone been able to
get MySql to work at all via ODBC in Witango Dev Studio under WinXP
sp2?
It seems from what I've seen so far the Witango is used almost
exclusively on MAC and Linix??? Does that mean the Windows support is
the most buggy of the three OS's Witango supports?
