You all are right.
The installer should have done, but did not!
Always have a look into console, if something does not work. Yes,
yes...
changing /etc/httpd/httpd.conf
LoadModule WitangoModule /usr/libexec/httpd/witango55_apache1.so
WitangoModule witango55_apache1.so
did make it, but why not the installer, ...

5.5.009 when installs, changes the names of modules as used in
previous 5.5 installs, but doesn't update the module stanza in
httpd.conf correctly.
Check the stanza, and check the module name, I am doing this by
memory, so I don't remember exact, but check the names of the
modules, and the places referencing them (clients.ini, and
httpd.conf) and make sure they all match.

Subject: Witango-Talk: Problems to start 5.5
After switching to 5.5 i do have a startup problem,
any idea on the following?
Client/Plug-in Error
Error Code: 601
Unable to initialize the client's environment.
An error occurred while parsing the config file /Applications/
WitangoServer/5.5/configuration/clients.ini for client
wapache55_apache1.so. Check the file format is correct and the
owner of the http process has file permissions to read the file.

Mark,
One of the things that was overhauled in the 5.5.009 release was to
provide a meaningful error message from the client.
Client/Plug-in Error
Error Code: 601
Unable to initialize the client's environment.
An error occurred while parsing the config file
/Applications/WitangoServer/5.5/configuration/clients.ini for
client
witango55_apache1.so. Check the file format is correct and the
owner of the
http process has file permissions to read the file.
This is saying that Apache has loaded the plug-in as you would not
get this error message otherwise. What you need to check now is
that
there is a stanza in the clients.ini file for witango55_apache1.so.
If there is then the issue is that the Apache process cannot read
the
clients.ini file. Make sure the path to and the clients.ini file is
able to be read by the user that owns the apache process.

Phil and Witango List
After all the great advice I received about the crashes I was
having, I
decided to first install the latest file that Phil recommended.
OSX Installation OSX Panther Server
This weekend, I deinstalled the old version of Witango55 and
installed the
new version. Didn't do a back up. Just screwed up.
Twice.
I think I am doing it exactly like we installed the old version.
MY httpd.conf file says:
LoadModule WitangoModule /user/libexec/httpd/witango55_apache1.so
Instead of
LoadModule WitangoModule Modules/witango55_apache1.so
But I think the first is right not what is in the read me.
What I am getting is
Client/Plug-in Error
Error Code: 601
Unable to initialize the client's environment.
An error occurred while parsing the config file
/Applications/WitangoServer/5.5/configuration/clients.ini for
client
witango55_apache1.so. Check the file format is correct and the
owner of the
http process has file permissions to read the file.
I have followed the instructions for pointing to the correct ODBC
libraries
since I am not using iODBC that apple provides.
Anyway. Keep trying stuff, but still get the error.
Any ideas?
