In my applications I detect witango tags by looking for the string "<@".  If I see that, I force the use of a good old <textarea> instead.  I've used a few wysiwig editors, and none of them have handled witango tags well, but that's not why I use wysiwig.  I use it to make it easier for clients to create static content to add to their sites.

Many of my clients are asking for a WYSIWYG Rich text editor in their CMS systems. I have been looking them over and so far TinyMCE is the best one I’ve found, and despite its upgrade to 2.0 it still has a hard time dealing with Witango tags within an image src. Is anyone using them currently (thanks for the link Jason, I hadn’t seen this one)? What customizations have you had to do to get it working? I am just beginning this process. Has anyone customized one to integrate with Witango?

I used the one Phil put together (still available for download on the Witango site) on a site I did for my friend's running site (http://www.chasingtradition.com)

It went together really quickly, although I did do a bit of customizing. It really isn't too difficult to put one together, but Phil gave me a really good head start.

I'm poking around a bit at the RSS feed part of it now, and have also added image embedding (via a custom tag from a media database). Matt (the guy running the site) has used it quite extensively and really likes it. I've also added a basic Rich Text editor (freely available here - just doesn't work in Safari, unfortunately, but is great in Firefox on the Mac - http://www.kevinroth.com/rte/demo.htm) to the publishing side so he can put in the basic HTML stuff as well.

Maybe this would be another good thing to pull together in an updated version of what Phil has given us to start.

I do know that I once saw at the WiTango site, a blog running and if I remember right,   it was a Tango app.

Are there app’s out there like the one I described above?  Heck I didn’t even check the “library” but, are the “off the shelf” ones better?  And for that matter, or there even “off the shelf ones”?  I had heard once that it’s a very quick coke. J

One more thing, when I say “off the shelf” I mean like drupal..etc.

Thanks
