I am reluctant to say that in fact that was all I changed by dragging
the actions from one TAF to a new one, because BBEdit flagged a lot
of other "changes" which seemed to involve whether or not
expanded="TRUE" in select actions - intriguingly, this seemed to be
kind of random (e.g. in "old" file, would not be expanded, in "new"
it would. Then a bit later on I'd see the reverse.
BUT if I just had BBEdit make the "new" file match the "old" file
only where the datatype changes had occurred (e.g., back to !CST),
the file would be restored. BTW, this did NOT involve custom column
queries. I have some of those and it makes sense that these might not
have the "expected" datatypes, but rather !CST
Once I had restored the new file, I might be able to change back a
few datatypes to what they should be without a problem, but at some
point, it would fail again.

We do occasionally see a tcf object's scope get "lost" shortly
after being added to a TAF, but after it gets changed once (or
twice) back, it finally "sticks" and we no longer have an issue
with it.

There is a serious bug that I don't think is JUST 10.4, but
seems to show up more in 10.4. Your insert and update actions
can get corrupted. It is a major pain, it has been reported
to Witango months ago. It has not been acknowledged, and none
of (AFAIK) have heard from witango on this.
