| Just a thought, I have a site in iis, that shows a under maint message, and another experiencing issues messages. They are stopped in IIS, I have a script that stops the real site, and can turn on any one of these.
So if you had an alarm/sentry that saw the error, it could do this for you.

Yeah, for unexpected crashes my suggestion won't help.
This particular issue has been discussed many times before. I don't
think you can get around that hard-coded message by conventional
methods.
