Interesting.
I can think of many useful things I can do with custom scopes, I
always keep it turned off, so the server will throw an error when I
mistype. My sticky, dyslexic fingers make enough mistakes, as is,
often suer for user.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a scopes.ini configuration file so we
could explicitly define the allowable scopes. and wouldn't it be
nicer still to have the server provide this as a service to
registered dev studios so the compiler could validate against the
actual server configuration.

If you mispelled the scope as some variation of what it's supposed
to be like Usre instead of User, or Locle instead of Local, etc...
You would be creating a custom scope on the fly. And that custom
scope would be shared across all users. This might cause this type
of behavior.

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies!
Just a bit more info in relation to a couple of comments..
Each of the browsers are on separate IP's (I couldn't hit the
search button fast enough and switch to another browser and hit
the search button before the first browser's results returned on
one machine) ;)
Also, neither of the machines are using proxies... And while
they're not on the same subnet as the web server, there's only
switches in between.
It's at least encouraging to hear that others are running the same
basic environment and not experiencing the problem. Hopefully it
means that I've only done something wrong somewhere. ;)
About the Mac.. It's OS X 10.3.9. And while it is a dual processor
machine, it's only running one witangod process. (I haven't had
the time or need to figure out how to make it run more than one..
Though I did try some time ago.)
The FileMaker is FMP 6.0v4 running on the Mac.
Any other thoughts or ideas much appreciated!
Thanks!

Subject: Re: Witango-Talk: Witango server returns other users
results..?
think of scenarios in which the two browsers are going to look
like the same visitor to the server:
have cookies off and coming from the same external IP address
two browsers hitting a link with a userref argument and sharing a
session, particularly if default scope is user
If you can, turn on debug and check to see that the userref cookie
is different for the various users

Hello,
We set up a few simple Tango apps a few years ago that I believe
were Tango
3.6 - Which were not all that long ago ported up to Witango
Server for OS X,
currently v5.0.1.065.
One app is a simple FileMaker DB search (If you can call
FileMaker a DB?) ;)
However since the upgrade, people have complained about getting
results
other than for what they searched... It turns out that if you hit
the page
from two different browsers at very close to the same time,
they'll both get
the results of one of the searches.
It's basically just a simple form where the user just selects
some values
out of the table to bring up the resulting matching records.
We just go:
<FORM METHOD=POST
ACTION="<@CGI><@APPFILE>?
function=search&start=1&<@USERREFERENCEARGUMENT>">
And then the TAF just branches on function and does a search on the
@POSTARG's
Actually, it didn't have that @USERREFERENCEARGUMENT at first, I
added that
out of desperation... But no luck...
I also thought to check the DEFAULTSCOPE in the witango.ini -
which for some
reason was set to request, which I couldn't even find in the help
(though my
help seems to not be easily searchable) - So I tried setting it
to user and
re-starting the witangod, but it didn't make any difference either.
Any ideas, anyone..? Do you need more info? It's been at least a
year or
two since I've had to do any Witango programming, and I never did do
anything particularly complicated, so it might just be something
obvious to
others..
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
