I think you're right, that UNC may be a limitation of the driver.

Because this particular type of driver uses text files as datasource, the
SQLSetConnectAttr is not uncommon. Internally the driver will process SQL as
instructions for reading the data. The attribute it's trying to set is
probably the UNC info since '(unknown)' is not a valid path, and it doesn't
understand it. Bummer....

If you have a SQL Server on that particular network machine (where the UNC
points to), you could probably use a Stored Procedure call from Witango to
invoke the ODBC call -> but in local context. Know what I mean?
