Knock yourself out, but IIS5 on Windows 2000 doesn't have App Pools.
I regularly host ASP.NET apps in the same folders and website as Tango and Witango apps and it works like a charm. I think someone has overlooked something else. Scott, From: Rick Sanders [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, February 12, 2007 11:25 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Witango-Talk: Help Please!!!! Here's the workaround I got from Microsoft: ASP.net and WiTango are running in the default application pool in IIS. Create a new application pool and call it WiTango. Then, associate each WiTango website with the WiTango application pool. Leave the ASP.net sites in the default application pool. Don't forget to remove the "X-powered by: ASP.NET" from the http headers of the WiTango websites. If you still have problems, create a user to run the WiTango service, and configure the WiTango application pool to run using the same service. The user you create will need administration privelages, but doesn't need permission to logon locally. Have fun! Am I going to have to stop and start the iis services everytime on reboot? I have never had this problem before on another server... WebDude _____ From: Rick Sanders [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, February 12, 2007 11:55 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Witango-Talk: Help Please!!!! I had the same problem. If you're not hosting .NET websites, then remove the reference to ASP.net in the http header in the website options. The ASP.net web services & front page extensions services start before the WiTango service, therefore the WiTango server didn't work. But, when you restarted the services, it worked fine. If you're hosting asp.net websites, then it's time to get a dedicated machine for WiTango. From: WebDude [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: February-12-07 1:45 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Witango-Talk: Help Please!!!! Well... That was very strange. I looked in the events log as you suggested... everything looked perfectly normal right down to "started accepting user requests." Out of desperation, I stopped all web services - WWW publishing, FTP publishing, IIS ADMIN and then restarted all the services. BINGO - up and running... talk about your panic attack. I am not sure what happened. I installed the .net framework last week with no errors. This morning I come in and see a security update and decided it would be prudent to apply. Required a reboot. When the server went back online, I could not display any taf file. Restarting the services seemed to have done the trick. Now my only concern is why? Anyone else?
