I hear a lot of talk about v6 studio, however what happened to a 5.75
release? Is this abandoned? I felt very encouraged that there would
be an free upgrade, with no new server features, that would fix all
the many issues with 5.5. So does this mean, that when 6 comes out,
if we want to have a studio that functions, we must pay for the v6
upgrade?

Dan,
As this is a total rewrite of the Studio every time we expand the
number of people using the new studio we find a few more issues
with backward compatibility. We are wanting to manage where the
studio is being used and roll it in a controlled way so that there
are no catastrophes with files that no longer work with the 5.5
server - you would be amazed at how many people use beta versions
on a production system. At this stage we are concentrating on OS X
issues.
The link to the OS X J2SE 6.0 is still in developer preview and is
only available to registered Apple developers so we cannot post a
link to it. If you have a Select membership for connect.apple.com
you will be able to log in and download the JVM preivew. Then get
in touch with Phil and he will get you the beta.

Why not post a link to the JS 6.0 for Mac OSX and the Beta and
also what about the Windows Beta.

The windows version has been in private beta since last year and
we have been working hard to keep the output of the 6.0 dev
studio compatible with the 5.5 server and java compiler. I will
make a release available for all platforms this week and I am
happy to start a public beta as long as people realise they must
keep backups of their files and it is still a use at own risk
application if you use it in production. Also the new actions
and features will not work on the 5.5 server.
A beta of the 6.0 server is a little while off.
It would be great if you could let us know what the situation
is with the
Windows DS. That one is not being held up by Apple.
Ever hopeful but very discouraged,
