I don't think what your asking for is possible at least the 1st part.
I don't know any app that does this. As to the second it is simple
enough to just use the same name I have never had an issue with
development vs. deployment everything you need is in there already.
I don't see any additional functions being added at this point I'd
like to see this come out ASAP.
There are a few things missing from the 5.5 release like the ability
to add some of the HTML I was hoping to see even a little more of that.

I'm just playing around, and I see that the studio shows No
DataSource!!! for a DirectDBMS action I dragged onto the actions

Now I haven't defined any DataSources (and actually the workstation
I'm on at the moment doesn't have any jdbc/odbc DSNs defined). But
previously, I had asked for a more flexible way of dealing with
datasources. I was really looking for a way to specify the
datasource parameters in the studio (or in some studio config file)
without needing to actually connect to the database. I recognize
this is problematic for the standard actions that rely on a
DataDictionary for dragging columns into an action, but this does
not apply to the Direct_DBMS action.
And like I noted before, it would be ideal if the DataDictionary
stanza, typically included in each appfile, was instead maintained
in a separate file to be referenced by both the studio and server,
so the studio could just sync with the server to get the
datadictionary.
I understand this is new functionality, and a beta release
presumably has all of the functionality we can expect, but having
requested something like this more than a year ago, I'm a little
disappointed.

The Witango Studio 6 Beta is now available to download and test
from http://developer.witango.com .
There is also a new version of the server 5.5.025 that is only
necessary to install if you are using Witango Studio 6. It is
not a complete installer just the server executable to replace the
5.5.020 executable. It provides compatibility with the new xml
header of version 6 taf and tcf files.
A beta of the new version 6 server will be available early next week.
Please make sure you report any issues you find with the beta back
to us at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and not to the witango-talk list.
