Thanks, unfortunately - when I just checked.
1] the wsjdbc50.jar file is in the 5.5 directory
2] Even after I added this file to CLASSPATH and restarted Windows, I
got the same error. Could there be a Windows permission issue? It's
like the file cannot be seen.

Dale,
The server is looking for the wsjdbc50.jar file in the C:\Program
Files\WitangoServer\5.5\ directory. This jar is a bridge between
the server and the jdbc drivers.

What in the heck is meant by "server running directory"? And does
the "jdbc java library" refer to some other file I need to have or
point to in the CLASSPATH?
New XP setup
Here are the CLASSPATH environment variables... (I have been
experimenting and throwing the classes12.jar file in wherever I can)
.;C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_15\lib\ext;C:\Program Files\Java
\j2re1.4.2_15\lib\ext\classes12.jar;C:\Program Files\Witango\Dev
Studio 5.5\Library\classes12.jar;C:\Program Files\WitangoServer\5.5
\classes12.jar
The EDITOR is working for JDBC, server is not
