Hadn't seen that before. I was mostly looking at this:

http://www.filemaker.com/support/technologies/odbc.html

Using an ODBC client running on a local client, I want to submit SQL queries or
statements to a FileMaker Pro database.

FileMaker Pro as a Data Source

FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Pro Advanced

Using an ODBC or JDBC client running on a remote client, I want to submit SQL
queries or statements to a FileMaker Pro database.

FileMaker Pro as a Data Source

FileMaker Server Advanced

I will look at that, but my understanding of MySQL is that it is quite
cumbersome. For example, can you just add a field to an established database? I
was under the impression that required quite a rebuild.

If that is not true, then I have been misled. If it is, well that's the reason
I used FMP.
