Wayne,

I know this isn’t too clear. I wish there was a better way to explain this
trick.

So, on OSX, the Studio has no ODBC connectivity, only JDBC. There are still
both the ODBC and JDBC folders. Basically, if you setup a data source under the
JDBC folder (using JDBC) in the Studio and then build actions with that data
source, the server will attempt to use the JDBC data source, of the same name,
from the jdbc.ini file.

However, if you setup a data source under the ODBC folder (again, using JDBC)
and then build actions against that data source, the server will attempt to use
an ODBC connection with the same name.

So while the OSX Studio MUST use JDBC to load database information (so the drag
and drop columns work), it can be used to deploy to both ODBC and JDBC. And the
OSX server works with ODBC just fine. I migrated an application to OSX that
uses a MS SQL Server through ODBC and it works great.

I suspect that because the data sources weren’t properly resolved, the TAF may
have been corrupted when you did the process below. Set your data sources by
type and name first, and you should be set.

Subject: Witango-Talk: xDBC?

Where does this currently stand?

I can't load ODBC datasources in Dev Studio 6.07. I can in 5.5.

I then open them in 6.07 and it gives me message about not be able to resolve
them and how it can help me. I then save but anytime I run the taf and it does
a datasource action it gives a syntax error.

[FileMaker][FileMaker] FQL0001/(1:1): There is an error in the syntax of the
query.
42000

As for JDBC, I can't even work out how to fill out the fields for the drivers.

Very frustrated here.

I am happy to put the work in but a little guidance as to what path to pursue
to avoid dead ends would be appreciated.

Wayne
