Okay, I forgot tsvwg is also seven syllables. So we’re tied for first. That
“w” is a ringer :)

Subject: [Witarea] "I'm HTTPAPI, nice to meet you"

From our ADs

Ø The goal is for people outside of your working group to be able to get a
high-level overview of what’s going on in your wg and what are the hot topics
for this meeting. It doesn’t need to be detailed, or a draft-by-draft report.
(Note: these will be publicly archived).

So…. HTTPAPI (the most syllables in any IETF WG “short name”) is focused on
machine-to-machine communication using HTTP. In practice this often means using
HTTP to send/receive JSON documents. Our focus is on building blocks for
separate, or combined, use.

At this IETF we’re meeting on Friday afternoon. We have a number of documents
in progress, as you can see from our agenda[1] and some of them are looking for
volunteers to help “push them over the finish line.”

Without intending any slight to any of the authors, things people might find
interesting include:
- a link type for authentication which facilitates automatic login and will be
reviewed by the security area directorate.
- Being able to build a “catalog” of APIs supported by a server
- Ways to indicate that an API is being deprecated
