The AVTCORE WG met on Tuesday, March 19 for two hours. We discussed the recent progress on RFC publication of codec specifications (VP9), metadata (framemarking) and feedback (LRR) specifications. In addition, the RTP payload specifications for EVC and a widely deployed end-to-end payload encryption mechanism (SCIP) are now in the RFC Editor Queue.
In the category of adopted drafts on the standards track, we discussed RTP payload formats for Volumetric Video Coding (V3C) and J2K streaming, practical issues in implementation of the H.265 codec in browsers, and transport of an IETF-developed end-to-end payload encryption scheme (SFRAME). After considerable work, the Experimental specification for RTP over QUIC (RoQ) is approaching WG Last Call. In terms of potential new work, we discussed use of AES-GCM with short tags and an RTP payload format for Haptics.
