Hello WIT Area,

The CoRE WG focuses on application protocols that enable constrained nodes to participate, in particular the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). CoRE will meet on Tuesday, March 18, for a 2-hour session.

Procedurally: a) 1 document has has just moved to IESG Evaluation; b) 1 has recently left the WG and has received its AD review; c) 1 waits for the Shepherd write-up; d) 5 more have completed their WG Last Call.

The item (a), "cf-reg-update", is the result of a very swift effort started after IETF 121, in order to revise the registration policies of one specific IANA registry and prevent erroneous registrations.

CoAP is designed to enable group communication; the main work items that revamp the main groupcomm document ("groupcomm-bis") and address secure groupcomm ("oscore-groupcomm") have been updated according to recently received, additional reviews. These are the items (b) and (c) above, respectively. A related document specifying how proxies facilitate group communication is also progressing.

WG items on the agenda for IETF 122 include the following topics: advancing the work on corrections and clarifications about the use of CoAP in various CoAP-related RFCs; recent developments on using efficient YANG; Concise Resource Identifiers (CRIs) as compact equivalent of URIs; parameters for controlling the behavior of CoAP Observe (RFC 7641); DNS over CoAP together with related, supporting documents; a CoAP-based architecture to achieve broker-based pub-sub communication; means to indicate transports available to use for CoAP; Observe notifications as CoAP multicast responses; and the protocol KUDOS for updating keying material to use with the security protocol OSCORE (RFC 8613).

Individual submissions on the agenda include the use of CoAP in space and over the (DTN) Bundle Protocol (BP).

CoRE will resume its biweekly interim meetings on 2025-04-09 until IETF 123.

Best,
/Marco
