You also need to add -DEXAMPLES_CONNECTOR=wtfcgi to link the examples
against the FastCGI connector.
You can check the binary to see which connector is being used:
$ ldd ./example.wt
> [Sat Jan 10 20:44:38 2009] [notice] mod_fcgid: server
> /var/www/wt/hello/hello.fcg(24608) started
> stat: No such file or directory
> exception: Error: Document root ("") not valid.
This is the hint, that the example hello.fcg is actually a standalone httpd.
