Thank you - yes - I tried that and it worked! Also - I think I will JSlots to detect function keys (I have found some example Javescript which does this). The "only" issue I have now is that IE seems to pad (or but a margin or border) on the top (or bottom) of the WLineEdit which means it doesn't lineup with WText (just a pixel or so out - but this adds an ugly white line across the screen). Firefox works perfectly. I'm fiddling with CSS and googling - and I know this is not a Witty issue - but if anyone has any hints with top or bottom margins in IE .... Anyway thanks for your help. When I get colour working I will send a screen shot - as I am absurdly proud of it!
