Thanks Koen. The problem turned out to be that a new transaction was needed to be instantiated before performing the query. However, the error was not propagated through to cerr... (all that was reported was a dead session) and was only found by diving deeper into the code. How does one get any SQLite3 messages? Is this printed in the console?
