I answer to my own question:
It is also necessary to change the class used to listen to HTTP requests in
conf/server.xml from:
<Connector port="8080" protocol="HTTP/1.1"
connectionTimeout="20000"
URIEncoding="UTF-8"
redirectPort="8443" />
to:
<Connector port="8080" protocol="org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11NioProtocol"
connectionTimeout="20000"
URIEncoding="UTF-8"
redirectPort="8443" />
Also, in webapps' WEB-INF/web.xml async support must be enabled. In my case
the file looks like this:
