Last time I checked, it was still working just fine! We are careful
not to break the SqlConnection interface (and there is also little
reason to do so).

The issue you had with the quotation marks is apparently a matter of
configuring MySQL to be standards compliant with that respect -- it
was discussed a few times on the mailing list.
