Look at line: /home/parvinder/Desktop/website1/source/test.C:85:56: instantiated from here So, error was caused by line 85 of your file: b->clicked().connect(root(), &WtApplication::Populate); See http://www.webtoolkit.eu/wt/doc/reference/html/classWt_1_1Signal.html#a15d1150af031537b492674ee651bf4a3 Read documentation about Wt::Signal When calling connect method of signal, the second argument must be a method of object, passed as first argument. You passed root() as first argument. root() returns pointer Wt::WContainerWidget*. But second argument &WtApplication::Populate is a method of WtApplication. These arguments are non-compatible. Probably you should pass pointer to WtApplication as first argument. Note: your method is named "populate", not "Populate", so you should also fix this.
