Hey Thomas,
The WPopupWidget and the implementation WTemplate widget are two different
widgets. The implementation of a composite widget is by definition parented
by the composite widget.
If you are using setAnchorWidget() then Wt will find a suitable DOM node to
parent the widget so that it does not suffer from overflow, so if this is
not what you see then you might have found a bug ? If you are not using
setAnchorWidget() then you need to use positionAt() to show the popup
widget. In fact, one of the main reasons to implement WPopupWidget was to
solve these anchoring/overflow issues.
