I am still working on my install script for the Witty Wizard CMS, so I am a
ways off from starting the CMS, but had plans for both a Project Manager
and a Calendar of Events, I was looking at the Planner Example, its seems
that this is a very good place to start, so instead of looking for an
Application that will work; why not start with the Planner and expand on it
to make the Application you need, with a little work, it should be easy
enough to create events (it does this already), and a sign up for events,
add a email reminder feature and you have a good place to start from.

What happens in software design, is we get sidetracked in names, Project
Manger, Collaborator, Event Calendar, Planner... and forget what we really
want or need, its best to integrate projects, so a Project Manager and
Collaborator talk to each other and can push events to an Events Calender
i.e. Planner, so everyone can see on one page what is going on, without
having to drill down into other projects to find that information, in
short, keep it simple, but as usual, it comes down to writing the code, and
everyone is busy, if only they had all these tools to make life easier,
they would have the time.

I would start with the Planner, add filters, so you can cut down on what
type of events you see, and a sign up form, and go from there, the Database
design is the key, so you can make it easy to integrate with other
Applications.
