Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: linker Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: david (dextersinister) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Add output of Summary Information Stream to verbose logging Initial Comment: Adding all of the data contained in the Summary Information Stream of a package [msi or msm] would be useful for keeping track of automated builds, especially when using AutoGenUUID fields to create the Package Code for a build ... For merge modules, the output could also include the ModuleID [just for convenience] ... Thanks, -dmm ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: david (dextersinister) Date: 2006-04-14 16:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1376583 I've uploaded a sample [modified] log file ... Additional lines could include the ProductID & UpgradeCode, just for completeness ... but I've only added the information which appears in the view summary information dialog as shown by Orca to the example file. The main purpose would be to simplify bug/fix tracking during builds/tests prior to releasing a product to manufacturing ... and to provide a detail 'history' of the actual build of an installation package. Think 'regulatory compliance' and I think you'll see where I'm coming from.
