Category: votive Group: v2.0 >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: gljosh (gljosh) Assigned to: Justin Rockwood (justinrockwood) Summary: Problems creating WiX Project in VS 2005 Initial Comment: I installed votive-2.0.3309.0.msi on top of VS 2005 version 8.0.50727.42. I start VS2005 and choose the option to create a new Wix Project. The status bar in VS2005 says the project was created successfully but nothing shows up in Solution Explorer. I then tried to open an existing project I created using VS2003. VS2005 went through its project conversion process and reports success, but again nothing in the Solution Explorer. I have tried both scenarios on my work computer and my home machine with the same results. Help!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: hughbiquitous (hughbiquitous) Date: 2006-01-12 12:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1187434 I see the same thing. Here's an interesting symptom: 1. In VS2005, create a new WiX project. (I'm creating C:\temp\wix\WixProject1) 2. It says "Creating project 'WixProject1.wixproj'... project creation successful." 3. The files have been created on disk, but in the IDE, nothing happens. Inspecting in SysInternals' Process Explorer, I see it has a handle on C:\temp\wix\WixProject1 (the solution directory) and C:\temp\wix\WixProject1\WixProject1 (the project directory). It does not have any handles to any of the files that were created. 4. I open a Windows Explorer window on C:\temp\wix\WixProject1\WixProject1. From there, I drag-and-drop Product.wxs into VS.NET. The file opens, but I get this error dialog: --------------------------- Microsoft Visual Studio --------------------------- Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=642714&aid=1374561&group_id=105970 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
