Category: extensions Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Frank Tse (fchtse) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: ngen CA to have an option not to fail setup during uninstall Initial Comment: In my WiX file I have the following: <File Id='DLLInGACAndNgen' Name='MyAssembly.dll' DiskId='1' Source='MyAssembly.dll' Vital='yes' Assembly='.net' KeyPath='yes'> <netfx:NativeImage Id="Ngen" Priority="0"/> </File> If for whatever reason the same DLL had been in GAC (but not in native cache), setup would not install the DLL over the one already in GAC and did not do the ngen action. Setup continued and finished without error. However, during uninstall, it called the ngen action to uninstall the DLL. That failed because the DLL was not put in native cache through ngen during installation described above. Now the product cannot be uninstalled anymore. It would be great if we can specify the ngen action to not fail setup even when it could not uninstall the DLL from native cache. That could make the setup more robust.
